Thank you for your fundraising efforts! You are among Ottawa’s brave and dedicated people who will make your mark in the fight against this disease, and improve the lives of thousands upon thousands in Eastern Ontario. The dollars you have raised are helping us pursue our mission to end breast cancer. Make no mistake about it your fundraising efforts are very valuable in supporting breast cancer research, treatment and care throughout our region. The Ottawa Hospital Regional Cancer Centre, the Ottawa Health Research Institute, the Queensway Carleton Hospital and regional cancer delivery agencies all benefit and are grateful for the money you have raised. As the region’s largest foundation raising funds for cancer, the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation utilizes funds from The Weekend to carry out breakthrough initiatives. This includes a new laboratory that will bring an innovative dimension to breast cancer patient care through “personalized cancer treatment.” It will be the first of its kind in Canada and will be up and running in the next few months.
Looking to the future, we have a vision. A vision that includes increasing capacity, to ensure that timely access to cancer care and treatment is available to those you know and love as close to home as possible, should it be required. Expansion of regional cancer services is a priority as is funding innovative breast cancer research and improving treatment techniques. You are making this vision a reality — thank you so much for all your hard work!
